This has been a bad week for Hip Hop as a number of prominent artist have had some major run ins with the law. The most recent involves Luther Campbell of the 2 Live Crew who was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery after he cracked a Jack Daniels bottle over the head of a patron blocking his view of club patrons dancing. Mathieu Fabrice an 18 year old college student from New York was attending a show at Miami's Club Zen Monday Night. He was allowed into the VIP section of the club where he encountered Luke. According to the police reports, Fabrice and a couple of friends stood in front of Luke thus blocking his view of the show. Bouncers for the Club asked Fabrice to move and some words were exchanged. Apparently something was said to Luke and the next thing you know a bottle was smashed against Fabrice's head. After the arrest was made, police later charged Luke with an additional count of domestic battery which stemmed from an arrest warrant that was issued on May 8th. He was released on $9,000 bail. Luke told reporters that the police are out to get him and that they were over zealous in their attempts to arrest him. |
